What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I discussed up top, the Layla is a flippable mattress that includes both a “Firm” and “Soft” side. Regardless of how you orient the bed, both sides feature top and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior sections of poly foam. For the purpose of this review, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll explain both setups below.
So, how exactly does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive beneath the cover to learn.
Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester blend. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s cozy and luxurious.
Comfort – With the “Soft” side flipped up, the comfort layer is made up of a 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, so provides the sleeper with plenty of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a small reputation for getting too hot, the foam here has actually been infused with cooling copper to keep the temperature levels low. This is a substantially thick layer of memory foam, so I can currently inform that the “Soft” side could be terrific for side sleepers (more on that later!).
Shift – Up next, you’ll arrive on a transitional layer of poly foam. This material is much firmer than the one above it, helping to suppress the memory foam’s deep sink and transition the sleeper into the firmer base products listed below. Layla Mattress Sale.
Support – And what exactly are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super solid and steady, this product supplies the mattress with the majority of its foundational assistance. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer basically functions as the base. When the bed is configured to the “Firm” side, this area becomes a company transitional layer that provides support to the lower back and hips.
Base– Finally, we land on the second and last layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s just an inch tall, so you can’t really feel it when the bed is in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to turn it, though, this would become the comfort layer. It would not offer nearly as much pressure relief as the 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam we have actually already seen, but might return and combo sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we have actually got a strong sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s enter into how it feels, beginning with firmness. Layla Mattress Sale.
Just like any feel element, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending upon one’s body size, shape, and weight. So, my read of this bed’s firmness might vary from your own. For referral, I’m about 5′ 10″, 190 pounds. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.
Given that the Layla is flippable, I decided to give it 2 firmness ratings. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Company” side, I arrived at a 7.5/ 10. To give these ratings some context, the industry standard for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to state that these scores are a bit extreme.
” Soft” side: As soon as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft setup, I might feel my body sinking into the luxurious top layer of copper-infused memory foam. The material contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, providing me with that classic memory foam “hug.” I think this feel would most likely work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.
” Firm” side: On the “Company” side, it was rather another story entirely. By switching out a 3″ leading layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed suddenly becomes incredibly helpful. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which produces a solidly “on the top” of the bed type vibe. I think this feel might work best for back sleepers in need of firm assistance at the hips and lumbar region.

Checking the Layla Mattress
Firmness is important, however it’s simply one piece of the feel puzzle. To get even more specific about this bed’s total vibe, I’m now going to test it for two other aspects: Pressure Relief and Motion Transfer.
Pressure relief describes a bed’s ability to ease tension at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This measure will be valuable for all sleepers, however particularly so for those who battle with joint discomfort. To help you picture how precisely the Layla eases pressure, I’ll be testing it out with a pressure map.
Generally, it works like this: I roll out the gadget, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records just how much force I’m exerting on the mattress, producing a colored “map” of the pressure. For reference, blue shows locations of low pressure and red suggests areas of high pressure. Layla Mattress Sale.
As I mentioned above, the “Company” side was the most comfortable for back sleeping, in my viewpoint. It set my spinal column in a nice, neutral line by keeping my hips raised in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I found that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfy.
When I turned onto my side, I felt a lots of great pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick top layer of memory foam nestled my shoulders and provided me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. Regarding be anticipated, the “Firm” configuration didn’t offer me with almost as much pressure relief, so may not be the best orientation for rigorous side sleepers.
No matter whether I had the Layla set up to the “Soft” or “Company” side, I would not say this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Stringent stomach sleepers tend to choose solidly firm bed mattress that raise the sleeper completely on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Mattress Sale.
Let’s finish up this section with a look at motion transfer, which refers to the quantity of motion detectable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will wish to take note of this feel aspect, though it will probably be most pertinent for those who share their bed with a partner.
To illustrate this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 pound. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, Eight inches and 12 inches and determined the disturbance it triggered: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
These are great movement transfer results, which informs me that you should not be too bothered by your bed mate’s movements in the night. The star here is the thick top layer of memory foam, which works to absorb movement and transfer it evenly across the surface of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you select whether you desire firm support or softer convenience. Side sleepers will probably prefer the soft side, while back sleepers can choose whichever fits their preference. Layla Mattress Sale.
Most importantly, if you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed features a lot of the product, so represents its characteristic sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are worried, I think side sleepers will prefer the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will probably be better off on the “Firm” side.
I ‘d also state that this bed has really low movement transfer, which marks it as a solid choice for couples. Layla Mattress Sale.
If you’re trying to find a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the costs. There’s not a great deal of bounce here, which leads to more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type vibe.
I ‘d also state that the mattress isn’t encouraging sufficient to bolster much heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will desire something with a bit more lift to ensure that they’re positioned on top of the structure.
Layla features an all-foam, flippable design with different firmness levels on each side. This allows sleepers to experience a various feel simply by turning the mattress over. Layla’s comfort layers include memory foam for significant pressure relief, and in our testing we likewise discovered the mattress to sleep extremely cool. Layla Mattress Sale.
